Thel\u00a0National Contest on Best Engineering Theses<\/a>\u00a0promoted by INVAP, is now in its second edition. From 1 March to 31 May, the call is open to participate in the competition that aims to acknowledge\u00a0Argentine talent<\/strong>\u00a0and innovative projects that improve\u00a0people’s quality of life.<\/strong>\u00a0 INVAP, the Argentine leading company in the field of technological projects worldwide, presents the second edition of the contest.<\/p>\n

In the first edition, 139 theses from 16 provinces were received. After a rigorous selection process, those that met the objective were considered: to value of applied research in the engineering universe with a diversity of perspectives.<\/p>\n

INVAP\u2019s initiative, with the support of INVAP Foundation, invites Argentine and foreign students from public or private universities whose undergraduate, specialization, master’s, or doctoral thesis was approved between June 2023 and May 2024.\u00a0The theses will be assessed by a jury of highly experienced professionals who will select the best innovative projects that contribute to the country’s development in strategic areas and seek to build a better future for Argentines.<\/p>\n

Dar\u00edo Giussi, INVAP’s General Manager & CEO, emphasizes the importance of the national scope of the contest: \u201cThe second edition of the award reaffirms our motivation and purpose to transform reality. We want to bring together the creative and innovative enthusiasm of the university communities to celebrate the projects that emerge in the universities, aligned with the concrete needs of society.\u201d<\/p>\n

On her part, Ver\u00f3nica Garea, INVAP\u2019s Manager of Institutional and Strategic Relations and President of INVAP Foundation, pointed out that \u201ctalent and gray matter are part of the essence of INVAP and of the value chain we contribute to the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

When<\/strong><\/p>\n

The submission of works will be open until 31 May 2024 at 5:00 pm.<\/p>\n

Oriented to<\/strong><\/p>\n

The call is open to Argentine and foreign students from public or private universities whose undergraduate, specialization, master’s, or doctoral thesis was approved between June 2023 and May 2024.<\/p>\n

What fields of study are participating?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nuclear, mechanical, electronic, telecommunications, electromechanical, materials, chemical, aerospace, mechatronic, aeronautical, industrial, biomedical, and computer engineering programs from all over the country. The only condition is that they are engineering works with real-world applications in solving a problem or aiming to build a future to improve people’s quality of life.<\/p>\n

How is the jury composed?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In-house juries: Dr. Eng. Roxana Cocco (President), Dr. Eng. Pablo Florido, Eng. Roberto Costantini, Eng. Ana Caumo, Dr. Eduardo Nassif, Dr. Eng. Ver\u00f3nica Garea.<\/p>\n

Outside juries: Eng. Diana Balaguer (Engineering Proposal Director at Techint Engineering and Construction), Dr. Eng. Eduardo Dvorkin (SIM&TEC\u2019s founding partner) and Lic. Roberto Hern\u00e1ndez (President, Director at LA.TE. ANDES S.A.)<\/p>\n

How to apply?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n

The awards for each category will receive an economic remuneration equivalent to 5 (five) monthly internal doctoral scholarships of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET, in Spanish) in Bariloche for the winning doctoral thesis. Besides, there will be 3 (three) scholarships for the winning theses at the Specialization or Master\u2019s level, and 2 (two) scholarships for those at the undergraduate level. A special mention under the name \u201cINVAP’s Founders\u201d will also be awarded for well-regarded theses that propose a creative and interdisciplinary approach.<\/p>\n

How to participate?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The theses must meet the requirements for degree and postgraduate (specialization, master’s, and doctorate) awards in the listed fields of study. Students must include institutional endorsement with their applications.<\/p>\n

Important dates<\/strong><\/p>\n

The call is open from 1 March to 31 May 2024. The jury will evaluate the entries in July. The selected finalists in each category will be announced during the first week of September 2024. The announcement of the winners of each category, along with the award ceremony, will take place on a date to be determined in September or October 2024.<\/p>\n
