On November 30, the Governor of the Province of R\u00edo Negro, Alberto Weretilneck, provided new radiotherapy equipment to the R\u00edo Negro and Neuqu\u00e9n Medical Foundation (Fundaci\u00f3n M\u00e9dica de R\u00edo Negro y Neuqu\u00e9n), located in the town of Cipolletti, R\u00edo Negro Province. The President of the Board of Directors of INVAP (Applied Research Company), Horacio Osuna, was present at the inauguration ceremony. INVAP was in charge of the equipment installation.<\/p>\n
The ceremony was attended by the provincial Minister of Health, Dr. Norberto Carlos Delfino, the Mayor of Cipolletti, Lic. Abel Baratti, the Vice-president of ELEKTA for Latin America, Antonio Ponce, the President of the R\u00edo Negro and Neuqu\u00e9n Medical Foundation. Dr. Herman Schroeder, together with members of the Foundation medical staff, the provincial government and the School of Medicine.<\/p>\n
INVAP and the Medical Foundation signed a cooperation agreement on exchanging resources, training programs, and applied research and development projects. In that regard, Osuna said he felt truly grateful to the Foundation for having trusted INVAP for more than twenty years, and added that \u201cthis agreement allows us to reaffirm our commitment to develop new radiotherapy application techniques.\u201d He also pointed out that the Foundation\u2019s support let the company test new technological projects in the aerospace field at its facilities.<\/p>\n
Dr. Weretilnek expressed that \u201cthis is a very special moment for us, not only because we are witnessing the technological improvement of one of the most important medical institutions of R\u00edo Negro Province, but also because of the relationship established between the Ministry of Health and INVAP.\u201d<\/p>\n
During the event, a new state-of-the-art linear accelerator ELEKTA Synergy, intended for the treatment of cancer, was put into operation. This achievement was the result of the collaboration between the Swedish firm ELEKTA and INVAP, which is the official distributor of the former in Argentina. Both companies reaffirmed their commitment to develop human resources for the rest of the country and Latin America.<\/p>\n
