From September 16 to 20, the sixty-eighth Regular Meeting of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was held at the Vienna International Center, Austria, where high-ranking officials and representatives of the 178 IAEA Member States reported on the development of peaceful applications of nuclear energy in each of the States, in addition to examining the global situation on issues such as nuclear, radiological and physical safety; technical cooperation activities promoted by the IAEA; and recent developments in nuclear science, technology and applications, among many others.<\/p>\n
In his opening speech, IAEA General Director, Rafael Grossi, from Argentina, presented the progress of the IAEA\u2019s flagship programs designed to the application of nuclear techniques for the reduction of global hunger; the measurement and reduction of pollution of the seas by plastics; access to cancer diagnosis and prevention through nuclear medicine techniques; and the contribution of nuclear energy to efforts to mitigate the climate crisis caused by global warming.<\/p>\n
The presence of delegates from all over the world made it possible to hold multiple bilateral meetings with different organizations of IAEA Member States in a single week. Thus, this annual conference is of significant importance both for INVAP and for Argentina, in order to consolidate and expand the export potential of our country in the nuclear field. With these bilateral meetings, our company strengthens its relationships with countries that currently have contractual ties and creates new relationships with countries that are interested in becoming part of the nuclear world.<\/p>\n

Once again, the Argentine presence stood out in this event that brings together the world’s leading exponents in the development of peaceful applications of nuclear energy. The progress in the installation and assembly works of the CNEA\u2019s RA-10 reactor, the beginning of the building process of the PALLAS reactor in the Netherlands, and the works in the final stage prior to the start of operation of the LPRR reactor in Saudi Arabia, all of them detailed and disseminated during the conference, are milestones that reinforce our track record as a company that designs, builds and starts up nuclear facilities,\u201d pointed out Eng. Dar\u00edo Giussi, General Manager of INVAP, who was present at the General Conference together with executives of the nuclear area of the company.<\/p>\n
